China has developed a revolutionary car battery that can charge in just 10 minutes and power a car for hundreds of miles before it needs to be plugged in. A report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) has hailed “remarkable” developments in chemistry that have allowed China to develop new batteries that pack far more energy than existing technologies. The IEA highlighted EV batteries capable of travelling 250 miles without a recharge. Toyota Racks Up Booming Profit, Vows to Invest to Keep Growth Going

Toyota  doubled  its  net  profit  in  the  fiscal  year  that  ended  in  March,  as  strong  vehicle  sales  and  a  favorable exchange rate lifted results for Japan’s top automaker. Toyota Motor Corp.'s annual profit totaled 4.9 trillion yen ($31.9 billion), up from 2.45 trillion yen the year before, while its sales jumped 21 percent to 45 trillion yen ($290 billion). Asian Development Bank supports Indonesia’s new capital

Indonesia has received technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) worth Rp. 37.22 billion to help develop its new capital city Nusantara in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. Indonesia posts quicker-than-expected Q1 GDP growth

Indonesia's  economy  grew  by  5.11%  in  the  first  quarter  from  a  year  earlier,  faster  than  expected,  data  from  the statistics bureau showed on Monday. Economists polled by Reuters had expected Indonesia to post annual growth of 5% in the January-March period. Annual growth in the fourth quarter was 5.04%. Vietnam boasts three seaports in Top 50 largest container seaports worldwide

Vietnam boasts three seaports listed among the Top 50 largest container ports globally, namely Ho Chi Minh City Port, Hai Phong Port and Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port. In the Lloyd's 2023 list, which ranked ports by the volume of container traffic represented in million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), the port of HCM City secured the 23rd position, slipping one spot from the previous year’s list. China’s economy grew 5.3% in the first quarter, beating expectations

China’s  economy  in  the  first  quarter  grew  faster  than  expected,  official  data  released  Tuesday  by  China’s National Bureau of Statistics showed. Gross domestic product in the January to March period grew 5.3% compared to a year ago — faster than the 5.2% expansion in the fourth quarter of 2023 and 4.6% growth expected by economists polled by Reuters. Industrial output for March grew 4.5% year on year, missing expectations of 6%. Apple CEO says company will 'look at' manufacturing in Indonesia

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company will “look at” manufacturing in Indonesia as he met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Wednesday. “We talked about the president’s desire to see manufacturing in the country, and it’s something that we will look at,” Cook told reporters after the meeting.
Regional businesses eyeing ASEAN in overseas expansion plans

The UOB Business Outlook Study 2024 surveyed more than 4,000 businesses in seven key markets across the ASEAN and Greater China regions, found that more than 80 per cent of businesses want to expand overseas. This interest is most keenly felt in Indonesian and Vietnamese companies.
